SunCor Development Company Announces New President Today - December 3, 2005

Steven A. Betts has been named president of SunCor Development Company, the real estate subsidiary of Pinnacle West Capital Co., effective January 1, 2005, it was today announced by John Ogden, who has been SunCor president and CEO for 18 years.

Ogden will remain SunCor's chief executive officer until his planned retirement in October 2005. 

"We are confident that Steve will be integral to the continued success of SunCor well into the future," said Ogden.  "His experience and expertise fits well with the SunCor vision of creating new exceptional environments where people can live, work and play." 

Mr. Betts is presently head of Gallagher & Kennedy law firm's governmental affairs and land use practice group, and as a shareholder in the firm is involved in a wide range of business, civic and political organizations. 

Mr. Betts is on the Board of Directors of Valley Partnership, the Maricopa County Parks Commission and the Governor's Growing Smarter Oversight Council.  He has served on the boards of the Arizona Planning Association and Public Affairs Association, has been lead counsel to the Arizona Association for Industrial Development, and report chairman for the Arizona Academy Town Hall.

He has served as counsel for numerous Senatorial, congressional and executive branch campaigns and has been instrumental in numerous landmark land use legislative enactments and development statutes. 

Betts is the recipient of the 1989 and 1999 APA Planning Association Recognition Award.

SunCor Develops a wide range of projects including planned residential communities, commercial centers and golf properties throughout Arizona, New Mexico, Utah and Idaho and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Pinnacle West, parent company to APS, the state's largest electricity provider.
